Most of my professional experience comes from working in academic and public libraries. Through this work I discovered my passion for information. I grew to love research and becoming a mini-expert in multiple topics.
I also gained a love of service. I work with the public on a daily basis through my library work. It is in that capacity that I make a difference in people’s lives. I meet new people every day at my job. I learn so much about our shared human experience from my patrons, and I’ve never felt more connected to the Power of our universe.
But I want to do more than help patrons at a library. I’ve spent the last 18 months studying at Aurora University in Aurora, Illinois, and graduated with a B.A. in Communication this May.
My goal is to write articles that inspire people, give voices to the underdogs, investigate complex topics and drive people to act. I want to be a force of positive, compassionate leadership in this world.
The pieces I’ve shared in this portfolio should demonstrate what I’ve learned in my life experience at the library and in my course work at AU.
Before attending Aurora I spent 3 years at Eureka College in Eureka, Illinois and 1 year at Rowan University in Glassboro, New Jersey. I studied elementary education and chemical engineering at those schools, respectively.
